Football Parents of the Class of 2021

Dear Football Parents of the Class of 2021,

I would like to thank each and every one of you for the opportunity to coach your son. I am very aware of the sacrifices that each of you made in order that he could be a part of our football family. While I realize that at times it can be difficult to see all of the benefits, I can tell you that as he moves on through life and into manhood, he will use many of the experiences he has had in football. I know this, because I went through it as a player and I see it year after year as a head coach.

Each senior class is different, yet very special to me. I have missed them every day since we came back to school in January. After reflecting on the highs and lows of our season, I keep coming back to what an incredible journey this group of seniors have had to overcome. Coaching this great group of young men through a pandemic made me realize and appreciate how special the game of football really is and how much I enjoy the opportunity to coach them. There were many people that believed that we may get to play 3 games at best, but because of the type of young men they are, we were able to have a football season. The way they practiced and played through all the adverse situations that we were presented was commendable. There may never be another Ranger Football team that understands and appreciates the game of football and our Ranger Family quite like this group of young men. I have enjoyed getting to know these young men over the past 4 seasons. This senior class did so much for our football program, the community, and Vista Ridge High School. It is truly amazing how they have raised the standard and changed the culture not only in football but in our school. They continued to fight and play hard all the way to the end. My hope is that they take that fight into the next chapter of their life.

I can’t tell you enough how proud I am of them. Every year I choose the following quote by General Eisenhower for this letter because it reminds us all of the life lessons your son has learned from this special game. I would like to thank you again for all your support for these young men. Our booster club and district are monitoring the new protocols and regulations to see when the best time will be to recognize your son at the Ranger Football Banquet.

Thank you. Go Rangers!

Sincerely,
Coach Vincent

” I consider it deeply significant that in all my commands during three major conflicts, I have never had to relieve an officer from duty under combat fire who had competed in high school football. I believe that football, perhaps more than any other sport, tends to instill in men the feeling that victory comes through hard work, team play, self-confidence and an enthusiasm that amounts to dedication.”

-General Dwight D. Eisenhower

Special breeds wear special clothes. Trained to wear crowns at a young age. The fields will change but primary strategy will remain the same. Invest in yourself and prepare for everything. It is competition and it is still played to win. You can take us with you, so they know you are always coming with relentless effort… The Ranger Way! ~ Class of Ranger Family

Football Parent Letter and Weekly Agenda – Week 19

Ranger Parents,

I wanted to thank you for all your support this football season. In April, I am not sure anyone could have predicted the challenges that we would face just to have games this year. Thank you for jumping on board with all our protocols and helping us continue to play as many games as possible. After seeing so many forfeits and game cancellations across the state of Texas, we feel fortunate to have played as many games as we did. It is never easy for a season to come to an end no matter when it is or how it ends. However, I can tell you that even in a pandemic, we woke up every day looking forward to working with this great group of football players. Despite not being able to do so many things we enjoy that surround our program, they had fun and grew as young people. This entire process made me thankful and appreciate every day that I get to coach and hopefully have an impact on a kid.

This week, Monday through Thursday we will be working on closing out academics, individual player meetings, and testing. Friday is an early release day and we will have team meetings virtually. We will continue to send out information on all upcoming events. Thank you again for letting us work with these amazing kids.

Have a great week. Go Rangers!

Ranger Parents,

We hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving Holiday. We should know by Tuesday who our official opponent will be for the playoffs. I will continue to keep everyone updated as information is available for our Bi-District Playoff game. Football Parent Letter and Weekly Agenda – Week 16

Ranger Parents,

Thank you again for your patience. Unfortunately, we were not able to find 3 games in such a short notice, but we are extremely proud of our players that got to play this week. Finding make up games for our Varsity has also been tough for various reasons.

We are so proud of our entire program for making the 6A State Football Playoffs this year. Our athletes at every level have worked extremely hard. Currently, we do not have any new information on games, and the rest of our district opponents are still playing district games. However, I did want to send our plan out for next week for our Varsity and JV teams. We will continue to improve and get our Varsity/JV players on a playoff type schedule while we wait to find out who our 1st round game will be
against.
Our 9th grade teams will be off this week.

With Thanksgiving coming up this next week, I wanted to pause and let you know how thankful I am to be working with your kids. They are incredible people, and I enjoy every day, that we were not promised this year, to coach them. If you need anything or need a place to go for Thanksgiving, please let me know. Our family is always ready to help during the holidays. Please continue to be diligent in helping us keep them safe while they are away from school, so we can continue to play football.

Have a great week. Go Rangers!

Football Parent Letter and Weekly Agenda – Week 15

Ranger Parents,

We had an incredible crowd on Thursday night at Gupton Stadium. Thank you for showing up and creating a great atmosphere for our players as they fought extremely hard. Last Wednesday night our cow bell crew was also in full force. Thank you for encouraging our players at all our events. This week we have our last district football games. It has become a little more difficult to find games, and we are thankful that we were able to find a full schedule for this week. As of right now, we will have 4 games on Wednesday night. Everyone is doing a great job with all our protocols, but we must continue to be diligent. Please, continue to help us hold them accountable away from school.

It is hard to believe, but we are already at the 3-week mark at the end of this week. We all must work together to continue to push our players academically. Parents, we are trying to push players to eliminate all missing assignments (M) from the grade book. Remember LISD is having early release on Wednesday. Please see all the changes for our Wednesday schedule.

Football Parent Letter and Weekly Agenda – Week 12

Ranger Parents,

So proud of how hard all our kids played this past week as we continue to improve at every level. We want to apologize for all the confusion about our Varsity game this week. The game time changes were completely out of our control. The Varsity game will start at 2 pm on Saturday. Also, Westwood only has 2 Sub-Varsity teams this week, but we were able to find some games for our teams. This is the last week of the six weeks. Please help us encourage all players to finish strong this week. Our All A and All A/B honor rolls were incredible last six weeks as we want to continue to build great habits academically.

All tickets for 9th and JV games will be sold at the gate.

Tickets for the Varsity Game on Saturday will only be sold online.

Football Parent Letter and Weekly Agenda – Week 11

Ranger Parents,

Thank you again for your patience with our schedule. Our District Executive Committee voted this past week to amend our football schedule due to other games being postponed. Attached is a revised schedule. Remember this could change again. Our players and coaches are just thankful we are getting to play games. Thank you for your support in getting players to practice and coming to their games.

This month is breast cancer awareness month and players are dedicating games to Ranger family and friends that have been impacted by breast cancer. We are encouraging all our players that are wearing extra pink to donate to help the cause. There are only 2 weeks left in this six-week grading period. Please encourage all athletes to finish strong.

All tickets for 9th and JV games will be sold at the gate. Tickets for the Varsity Game on Friday night will only be sold online.
