Rodney Vincent – Head Football Coach/Athletic Coordinator
Coach Vincent is in his 9th year as Head Football Coach of the Rangers. He has 19 years of coaching experience. Previously, he was Athletic Coordinator/Head Football Coach at Austin High School for 5 years. Prior to that, he was the Defensive Coordinator/Linebacker Coach at Westwood High School. Coach Vincent also coached at Navasota and Bryan High Schools. Originally from Vernon, Texas, Coach Vincent holds a BSE from the University of Central Arkansas and Masters of Educational Administration from Texas A&M University. In 2014, Coach Vincent was named District 25-5A Coach of the Year and in 2015 was named the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Coach of the Year as well as Dave Campbell’s Texas High School 5A Coach of the Year. He and his wife Jennifer have been married for 22 years and have 2 daughters, Emily 15, Molly Kaite 12, and a son Clayton 11.
Brian Roberts-Varsity Offensive Line
Coach Roberts is in his 5th year of coaching and 2nd year at Vista Ridge High School. Prior to Vista Ridge he spent two years in Katy ISD and a year in Meadville, PA. Last year, he coached inside linebackers, but made the switch over to offensive line, this year. Coach Roberts is a graduate of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Education. He and his fiancée, Haley Marett, are getting married next June.
Jesse Leake – Wide Receivers, Defensive Backs, 9th Grade Coordinator
Coach Leake is in his 9th year coaching and 3rd at Vista Ridge. He spent 6 years coaching football and track in Edmond, Oklahoma. He is the Freshman Coordinator, and will be working with Wide Receivers and Defensive Backs. He will also be serving as the head girls track coach, along with coaching pole vault and hurdles. Coach Leake is a graduate of Oklahoma Christian University where he competed in track and field and graduated with a BSE in science education, with minors in music, ministries, and physical Education.
Ryan Bailey – Wide Receivers
Coach Bailey is in his 9th season at Vista Ridge. He will be coaching the wide receivers and will be the co-special teams coordinator. He has been coaching for 23 years. Ten of those years were at Copperas Cove High School, where he served as the passing game coordinator. He spent one year in Hillsboro as the offensive coordinator before moving to Lampasas for the same position. Coach Bailey then served as the head football coach at Lampasas for two seasons. Coach Bailey is a graduate of Tarleton State University where he participated in both football and track. He is married to Shannon and they have two girls Rylee 17, and Emily 13.
Darin Shaw – Defensive Cornerbacks
Coach Shaw enters his 29th year coaching and his second year at Vista Ridge. He will be coaching cornerbacks on the Ranger defensive staff. Coach Shaw spent three years at Lamesa ISD, seven years in Austin ISD and 17 years in Pflugerville ISD before coming to Vista Ridge. He is a proud graduate of Texas Tech University and is married to Laurie.
Greg Carter – Defensive Line
Coach Carter is in his 5th year with Vista Ridge and has 30 years coaching experience. Coach Carter was born in Corpus Christi and grew up in Lubbock. He has coached at Mesquite, Galena Park, Georgetown as Special Teams Coordinator, Florence as Head Coach and Athletic Director, Pflugerville and Troy as Defensive Coordinator. He has a degree in Education from Texas A&M University.
David Seaborn – Safeties
Coach Seaborn is entering his 8th year of coaching and his fourth with Vista Ridge. He graduated from LBJ High School in Austin and went on to play college football at Texas Southern University. Coach Seaborn received his BS from Huston Tillotson University. He is married to Sheralyn and their two children are, DJ who is 9, and Saniya who is 5.
Todd Brown – Offensive Coordinator, Quarterbacks
This is Coach Brown’s 9th year coaching the Rangers. Before coaching at Vista Ridge, he was the Offensive Coordinator at Austin High. Prior to Austin High, Coach Brown was the Athletic Director/Head Football Coach at Johnson City. He also has coaching stops at Eagle Pass, Cleveland, and Mathis. Coach Brown is a graduate of the University of Texas and is in his 28th year of coaching. He has been happily married to Karen for 22 years and has two sons Tyler 20, and Kyle 15.
Chad Scott – Defensive Coordinator, Outside Linebackers
Coach Scott is in his 9th year with the Rangers. Previously, he coached for 6 years in the Judson ISD. He came to Vista Ridge from Wagner HS. Coach Scott received his BS degree from Sam Houston State University in biology and played linebacker for the Bearkats. He graduated from Judson HS where he had the opportunity to play under D.W. Rutledge for two state championships. Coach Scott is married to Sherlyn and they have 3 children, Chesni 13, Kayla 9, and Samantha (who the sMiles 4 Sammy Foundation was created in memory of).
Cory Payne – Running Backs
Coach Payne is a graduate of Southwest Texas State University and is in his 15th year of coaching and his 8th year at Vista Ridge. He previously coached in Temple and Luling for 4 years each. His Coaching responsibilities include tight ends, offensive line, and is the strength and conditioning coordinator for all high school programs. He is married to Taylor and has two daughters, Ruby 3, and Pearl is 1.
Coach Huffman – Freshman Football
Coach Huffman is in his fifth year of coaching overall and this is his first year at
Vista Ridge. Before coming to Vista Ridge he was at San Angelo Lake View
High School. Coach Huffman will be coaching Freshmen Football and Varsity
Baseball. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Physics with a minor in Mathematics
from Angelo State University.
David Burdick – 9th Grade Black Football Head Coach
David Burdick enters his 18th year of coaching and his 6th with Vista Ridge. He is the Head Wrestling coach and a freshmen offensive and defensive line coach. David graduated from St. John Fischer College in Rochester, New York. Coach Burdick is married to Lori Burdick and has two children, Bridgid 12, and Joshua 10.
Jason Bourgeois – Quarter Backs, Outside Linebackers
Coach Bourgeois is in his 8th year at Vista Ridge, and he is entering his 18th year of coaching. He is the Head Baseball Coach and Freshman Football Coach. Before Vista Ridge, he was the Head Baseball Coach at Joshua High School for four years, and he has also coached at Orangefield and Little Cypress-Mauriceville High Schools. Coach Bourgeois has a BA from Lamar University. He is married Kristin and they have two daughters Sydney and Alex, and a son Beaux.
Joe Kennedy – Tight Ends/Offensive Line
Coach Kennedy is in his 2nd year of coaching and this is his 1st year at Vista Ridge. Last year he coached defensive line at Marble Falls High School. Before entering the teaching/coaching profession, Coach Kennedy served as an officer in the US Air Force, a government civilian in the Department of Defense, and worked in cybersecurity for the private sector. He is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy (‘99), holds a MA in Government from Johns Hopkins University, and a MBA from the University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business.
George Hardy – Inside Linebackers
Coach Hardy is entering his 13th year of coaching. He started down in Donna, TX and moved up to Alvin, TX the following year before spending six years at his Alma mater Mission high school. After he married his wife Lisa they moved to Austin, TX where he worked at Pflugerville Connally high school for 3 years. He then spent a year out at Clear Creek high school near Houston before coming to Vista Ridge. Coach Hardy and his wife have two children Zoe 11 and Jax 3.
Kristin Rogers Jarnagin- Athletic Trainer
Coach K is entering her 11th year of athletic training and her 4th with Vista Ridge. She graduated from Stillwater High School in Oklahoma and went on to study athletic training at Oklahoma State University. She continued her education as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at New Mexico State University, followed up by a brief stint as an intern with the United Football League. Coach K is married to David and has a son Ethan 2.
Jose Carrillo- Athletic Trainer
Coach Carrillo is in his 18th year of Athletic Training and in his fifth year as an Athletic Trainer with Vista Ridge. He was also an athletic trainer at Round Rock High School, Brownsville Rivera High School, and Fort Bend Hightower High School. Originally from Port Isabel, he earned a Bachelor of Exercise & Sports Science and a Bachelor of Arts from Southwest Texas State University. He is both Nationally Certified (NATABOC) and State Licensed Athletic Trainer. He and his wife Carolyn have been married for 11 years and have 2 daughters, McKenna 10, and Isadora 5.
MIDDLE SCHOOL COACHES
Paris Hodges-Stiles Middle School
Paris Hodges is the Athletic Coordinator at Stiles Middle School. He is entering his 11th year teaching and coaching. Prior to Stiles, he spent years teaching and coaching at Four Points Middle school, Port Allen High school in Baton Rouge LA, Farley Middle School, Hutto High School and Rockdale Middle School. Coach Hodges graduated from Louisiana State University where he played football for the Tigers and later obtained a Masters in Educational Leadership from UT Arlington. Coach Hodges’ wife Angela, is an Assistant Principal in Pflugerville ISD and their daughter Ava Grace is 7 years old.
Wayne Carpenter-Stiles Middle School
Coach Carpenter is in his third year as a teacher and coach at Stiles Middle School. Previously he coached football, basketball, and track at Westview Middle School in Pflugerville ISD. Coach Carpenter has a Bachelor’s of Science from Arkansas State University. He and his wife Kristi have two daughters, Malorie 22 and Kylie 18.
Matt Garver-Henry Middle School
Coach Garver is in his second year as Boys Athletic Coordinator at Henry Middle School. Spent the last 9 years in Plano ISD coaching football at Rice Middle School and coaching varsity baseball at Plano West Senior High School. He and his wife Moriah Garver have been married 6 years and have twin one year old boys Maxton and McCoy.
Daniel McKeown-Henry Middle School
Coach McKeown is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University. Married to Maureen. Has a son, Chad, and daughter and son-in-law Holly and Nate Jackson and grandsons Lucas and Levi Jackson, ages 6 and 3.
Lonnie Taylor-Henry Middle School
Lonnie Taylor is in his 10th year as teacher and coach at Henry Middle School. He has 18 years of coaching and teaching experience. Previously, he was the head basketball and track coach at Dobie Middle School in AISD. He was born in the piney woods of East Texas in Longview. Coach Taylor holds a BS from Eastern New Mexico University in Kinesiology and Healthy Education. He has twin boys, Quinton and Brandon 20, and daughter Jasmyn 17.
Eric Truesdale-Henry Middle School
Coach Truesdale is entering his 2nd year of Teaching and coaching at Henry Middle School. He has 8 years of coaching experience. Previously he was a Football, Basketball and Track Coach at Dripping Springs Middle School. He was born and raised in Waukesha, WI and went to school at Iowa State University and Loras College where he earned a BS in History and Education. He and His fiance Meghan are both new coaches in the District.
